Osteria san Giovanni, located in the center of Morbegno, is housed in one of the city’s first buildings, built over a century ago, and still preserves the historic furnishings of the old grocery, tobacco, and general goods shop, which was a reference point for the whole area.
In its three rooms, with over 100 seats, you can enjoy the authentic flavors of the local food and wine tradition: typical valtellina dishes such as pizzoccheri, sciatt, taroz, and bresaola, risottos and homemade first courses, quality meats, and seasonal specialties. The kitchen also offers a wide selection of pizzas, both classic and special, a particularly rich wine list, and several gluten-free options (cold cuts, first and second courses).
The restaurant, with its indoor bar, is also the ideal place for an aperitif in Morbegno and hosts live music events in both summer and winter.
The selection of dishes varies according to the time of year, to always offer fresh and quality courses prepared with seasonal ingredients.
In our pizzeria we use only lightly milled and refined flours to obtain a semi wholereal dough different from traditional dough. In addition to classic traditional pizzas we periodically offer specialties with unique ingredients and combinations, all to be tasted and discovered.
Gluten free piazzas are also available (baked in the same oven as the other pizzas).
Osteria San Giovanni was originally founded as a wine bar and has maintained this tradition over the years. Today, our cellar contains about 100 labels, carefully selected among the wines of the most prestigious Italian and foreign wineries, small producers and independent winemakers, and the best Valtellina wineries.
